Oxbelly, “Voidokoilia” in Greek, is named after a nearby beach in Messinia, featured in Homer’s The Odyssey, where the first written account of hospitality in the western world took place. It is in this very culture, where storytelling meets hospitality that Oxbelly was founded by Christos V. Konstantakopoulos in 2015.

Oxbelly aims to foster creativity and to strengthen creative economies through global collaborations. For the last ten years, the organization has held leading international writers’ programs in film, television and literature through the annual Oxbelly Retreat, while supporting the burgeoning Greek film industry. 

Each year the organization reflects on what barriers exist for storytellers in the current landscape and builds creative programs to open paths for the storytellers’ projects and careers. Recent expansions include the Oxbelly Ambassadors program, which seeks to devise cross-border film financing pathways.
