Vice President of Science at Pachama

Dick Cameron has extensive work experience in the field of science and conservation. Dick is currently serving as the Vice President of Science at Pachama, starting in December 2022. Prior to this, they worked at The Nature Conservancy, where they held various roles spanning from 2004 to 2022. Their positions at The Nature Conservancy included Director of Science for Land and Climate Programs, Lead Scientist, Land Conservation Program, Associate Director of Science, North and Central Coast Region, and Senior Conservation Planner. In these roles, they led scientific research, engaged in conservation integration, and conducted studies on habitat loss and climate change mitigation. Before joining The Nature Conservancy, they worked as a GIS Specialist at GreenInfo Network from 2000 to 2004. Dick also worked as the GIS Manager at Forest Conservation Council/Forest Guardians from 1994 to 1998, where they co-founded the Southwestern Wildlands Initiative.

Dick Cameron attended Middlebury College where they earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography. Dick later pursued their Master's degree in Geography at the University of Colorado Boulder. Additionally, in 1992, they briefly attended the School for International Training, where they focused on international development and resource management.
