Nat E. is an accomplished engineer and researcher with extensive experience in bioinformatics and software development. Currently serving as a Senior/Staff/Senior Staff Engineer and Senior Manager at Pacific Biosciences since June 2015, Nat E. focuses on the development and commercial support of a full-stack web platform for DNA sequencing data analysis, utilizing primary programming languages such as Scala, Python, and WDL. Prior experience includes roles at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory from June 2008 to May 2015, where Nat E. developed software for macromolecular X-ray crystal structure determination, as well as a graduate researcher at UC Berkeley, contributing to studies on M. tuberculosis protein kinases via X-ray crystallography. Nat E.'s foundational work in bioinformatics began at Yale University as a web programmer, maintaining databases for structural genomics projects while conducting independent research. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology from UC Berkeley and a BS in Biology from Yale University.
