Pacifica Family Fund (PFF) is a fiscally-sponsored project that aims to increase equitable access to safe, respectful midwifery care at Pacifica Family Maternity Center (PFMC), a freestanding, accredited birth center in Berkeley, CA.  Our vision is a world where all people have excellent and equal pregnancy and birth outcomes. 

Our mission is to provide financial support for families to access community-centered midwifery care at PFMC. We work to create an inclusive community of families across gender, sex, race, ethnicity, age and socioeconomic class differences. Since our creation in 2017, we have worked directly with midwives, birth workers and advocates to form a holistic approach to changing the way we birth the next generation. 

We believe that safe, individualized, and culturally respectful care during the childbearing cycle is a human right. PFMC, founded in 2012, has been providing low-cost, high-quality care with reduced risk for unnecessary interventions—as shown by its outstanding health outcomes—a 94% vaginal-birth rate and a 99% breastfeeding rate. It is imperative for birth centers and midwifery care to be a viable option for all families, and it is critical that we address the existing disparities faced by specific communities.
