Ryan Heit has a diverse and extensive work experience. Ryan began their career in 2008 as the Director of World in Need, a non-governmental organization in Niger. In 2009, they became a Research Technologist at the University of Alberta, where they focused on the role of fatty acyltransferases in human disease. In 2012, they co-founded and became the Vice President of Operations at Pacylex Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a biotech startup specializing in the development of cancer diagnostics and therapeutics. In 2014, they co-founded the Prairie Noodle Shop and became a Deal Flow Officer at Valhalla Angels. In 2017, they became the Co-Founder and Founder Director at Valhalla Private Capital and a Member of the Edmonton Space and Science Foundation. In 2018, they became the Director of the Merck Invention Accelerator. Finally, in 2020, they became the University of Alberta PSI Executive-in-Residence.
Ryan Heit received their Master of Business Administration from the University of Alberta in 2013, with a focus on Technology Commercialization. Ryan had previously earned their MSc. in Experimental Oncology from the same university in 2009. Heit's educational journey began at the University of Alberta, where they earned their BSc in Biochemistry and Cell Biology in 2005.
