Derek Alderton

Derek Alderton has over 20 years of experience leading both large and small consulting engagements.

Mr. Alderton worked with McKinsey for 10 years, where he was responsible for the West Coast Media & Entertainment Practice. He founded his consulting firm, Alderton Business Services, to work with private equity firms, global businesses and small public and private companies across industries. He also sits on the boards of multiple companies, has been a featured speaker at over 50 events, and is a published author of industry articles as well as a textbook. He began his career as an insolvency administrator and then as an M&A investment banker.

Mr. Alderton earned his MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management, where he is currently an adjunct professor in Strategy and Entrepreneurship. He also holds degrees in Law and Economics from the University of Sydney, a Diploma in Finance from the Securities Institute of Australia, and is a Chartered Accountant in Australia.
