Palo believes in the transformative power of a small footprint. Founding their award-winning firm Palo in 2015, they adapted a design philosophy focusing on small-scale infill, the integration of context, and strategic reuse. Their projects add density while improving quality of life by leveraging embodied carbon and extending open-air possibilities. Their professional work is grounded in curiosity and research, from explorations into how people use their homes to mapping the root structures of native plants. Palo’s combination of Architecture, Landscape, and Interiors allows them to navigate existing conditions, knit together disparate structures and topography with new design elements and bring ecological and systems thinking to each site. This approach elevates density and quality of life while ensuring sustainability is at the core of practice.
