Director, Technical And Creative Writing at Panavision

Jon Witmer has extensive work experience in the film and media industry. Jon started their career as a Camera Assistant in a freelance capacity in 2005. In the same year, they also worked as a Teaching Assistant at the New York Film Academy - Los Angeles. From 2005 to 2007, Jon took on the role of Contributing Writer at American Cinematographer Magazine. Jon then progressed to become an Assistant Editor from 2007 to 2008 and an Associate Editor from 2008 to 2014 at the same magazine. As the Production and Content Coordinator of Friends of the ASC, Jon established a consistent content stream and produced live events from 2013 to 2014. Jon eventually became Managing Editor of American Cinematographer Magazine in 2014, where they shaped its focus and tone, managed the editorial team, and crafted marketing copy. Most recently, in 2019, Jon joined Panavision as the Director of Technical and Creative Writing.

Jon Witmer completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Film Studies and Motion Picture Production from The Ohio State University, which took place between 2000 and 2004. In addition to their degree, they obtained a certification in "Learning to Write Marketing Copy" from LinkedIn in February 2019.
