Richard Carnegie

Richard Carnegie is an accomplished musician and educator with extensive experience in the field of double bass performance and music instruction. Richard served as Co Director of Sistema Saskatoon from July 2015 to June 2018, overseeing operational and instructional duties for an after-school music program. Additionally, Richard held the position of Principal Double Bass with the Saskatoon Symphony and Chamber Players from September 2006 to May 2021 and has been a Lecturer in Double Bass at the University of Saskatchewan from September 2006 to April 2022. Richard also operates a private music studio, providing instruction to students ranging from beginners to university level. As Music Director of the Saskatoon Youth Orchestra since July 2009, Richard contributes to the development of young musicians. Further experience includes guest conducting for the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra and roles in marketing and development at Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan Festival Inc. Richard's formal education includes a Bachelor of Music in Double Bass Performance from the Manhattan School of Music and additional training at the Glenn Gould School and the National Academy Orchestra of Canada.
