Game Director at Paradox Interactive

Mikael Andersson has a diverse work experience in the gaming industry, IT project management, and event organizing. Mikael is currently working as a Game Director at Paradox Interactive, a position they have held since December 2021. Prior to that, they worked as a Senior Game Designer at the same company from January 2017 to December 2021.

Before joining Paradox Interactive, Mikael worked at McMaster University, where they served as an IT Project Manager from August 2008 to November 2016. In this role, they managed the development and operation of the medportal e-learning system at the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine. Mikael also held the position of Information Technology Support Specialist from March 2003 to August 2008. During this time, they were responsible for workstation deployment and maintenance within the Faculty of Humanities, as well as providing IT consulting for research projects and software system deployment.

In addition to their work in the gaming industry and IT, Mikael also has experience as a founder of Hammer Games, an event organizing arm of Hammer Games community organization. From 2007 to 2013, they organized an annual 3-day gaming convention called HammerCon to promote and expand the gaming hobby in the Hamilton and Greater Toronto area.

Mikael Andersson attended McMaster University from 1997 to 2007, where they studied Computer Science. Prior to that, they briefly attended the University of Gothenburg in 1996-1997, focusing on Psychology. Besides their formal education, Mikael also obtained a certification as a Certified Agile Project Manager from the Project Management Association of Canada.
