Michael McQuade

Director of Engineering at Parallel Works

Michael McQuade has worked in the software engineering industry since 2012. Their most recent role is Director of Engineering at Parallel Works, which they began in 2021. Before that, they were a Software Engineer at Softwoof from 2017-2019, where they developed multiple PoC 2D and 3D games and established multiplayer experiences with Node.js based SDK Colyseus. Michael also created a Next.js/React. At ConocoPhillips, they worked as a Cloud Architect and Software Engineer - HPC from 2019-2021, where they developed a system which ran and wrote relevant system information to networked filesystem every 3 minutes, and created a Node.js server which monitored mounted filesystem, updating cache of cluster information. From 2018-2019, they worked as a Software Engineer at Foundation Software, where they utilized Gatsby.js (SSG) to improve page load speeds from 6.2 seconds on Wordpress down to 800 ms, transitioned the site to Netlify CDN, setup instance of Netlify CMS, and managed pages with company TFS. Prior to this, they worked as a Senior Advisor at Apple from 2012-2018.

Michael McQuade obtained a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Tecnológico de Monterrey in 2017-2018. Michael then went on to obtain a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Computer Science from Oklahoma State University from 2016-2019. During this time, they also obtained certifications in Midstream/Downstream Oil and Gas and Upstream Oil and Gas from the University of North Texas in July 2019. In December 2020, they obtained an AWS Certified Developer – Associate certification from Amazon Web Services (AWS) and an AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification in April 2020. Michael is currently pursuing a Master of Science - MS in Computer Science at the University of Houston, which they started in 2021.
