Sameer Shende has a long and varied work experience. Sameer began their career in 1991 as a Systems Analyst at Tata Unisys Ltd and an Engineer at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. In 1997, they became a Graduate Research Assistant at Los Alamos National Laboratory. In 2001, they started their tenure at the University of Oregon as a Research Professor, Director of the Performance Research Laboratory, Research Associate Professor, Senior Research Associate, Research Associate, and Postdoctoral Research Associate. In 2004, they became President and Director of ParaTools, Inc. In 2014, they became President of ParaTools, SAS, and in 2016, they became President of ParaTools, Ltd. In 2018, they began work at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) as the PI for Programming Models and Runtime (PMR) for SDKs in the Exascale Computing Project.
Sameer Shende began their educational journey in 1987 when they earned a B. Tech in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. Sameer then went on to pursue a M.S. in Computer and Information Science at the University of Oregon, which they completed in 1996. In 2001, they obtained their Ph.D. in Computer and Information Science from the same university.
