Robert van Elst

Robert van Elst has a diverse work experience in software engineering and database development. Robert is currently working as a Senior Software Engineer at ParentPay, a company that specializes in software and financial services for education. Prior to this, they worked as a Senior Software Engineer at SNG Barratt Group and NFU Mutual.

From 2019 to 2020, Robert ran their own company, Robert van Elst Data Solutions Limited, where they worked as a Database Developer, focusing on Microsoft SQL Server databases, ETL development, Power BI, and .NET based utilities.

Before that, they were an Application DBA at HAS Technology Group from 2014 to 2019, where they were responsible for data warehouse and ETL design, performance tuning, and optimization.

From 2006 to 2014, Robert worked at Sky IQ, Customer Intelligence Services, where they held roles as a Senior Software application developer and Development Lead. Robert gained experience in SQL, TFS, VB.NET, webservices, .NET Remoting, WCF, C#, Infragistics, SSIS, BI, MDX, people management, managing application support and maintenance, and agile development and scrum.

Between 2002 and 2006, Robert worked as a Senior developer at MAX International - SSA Global - Infor, specializing in software application development and R&D for manufacturing and ERP systems.

Robert's early career includes roles such as a Developer at Misys Banking Systems in 2001, a Software Development Manager at Wishmour automatisering from 1997 to 2001, and a Report Developer at DEC Digital Equipment from 1992 to 1997.

Robert van Elst has a solid educational background in the field of computer science. Robert attended the Goois Lyceum in Bussum, Netherlands from 1977 to 1983, where they pursued their vwo studies. Following this, they enrolled at the HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht (Hogeschool Utrecht) from 1983 to 1988, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree (Dutch: ing) in computer science.

Furthermore, Robert has enhanced their professional credentials with additional certifications. In September 2015, they completed the "MongoDB for DBAs training M102" program offered by MongoDB University. Additionally, in February 2023, Robert obtained the "Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Fundamentals" certification from Microsoft.
