Computational Biologist at Parse Biosciences

Ryan Koehler has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of bioinformatics and computational biology.

Most recently, they worked as a Computational Biologist at Parse Biosciences starting in October 2019. Prior to that, they were a Scientific Research Consultant & Contractor at VerdAscend Sciences since January 2009, where they provided consulting and contract services in bioinformatics, including assay and oligo design, data processing, data mining, and machine learning.

Ryan also served as an Instructor at UC San Diego Extension since January 2009, teaching online courses on Genomic Sequencing Technologies and Bioinformatics.

During their early career, they worked as a Scientist, Computational Chemistry at Telik, Inc., providing support in molecular modeling, physico-chemical property predictions, and database management.

Ryan Koehler obtained a PhD in Chemistry (Organic / Computational) from the University of California, Santa Cruz from 1990 to 1995. Prior to that, they received a BS in Biochemistry from the University of California, Davis from 1986 to 1989. In addition to their formal education, they have obtained several certifications including "Python for Genomic Data Science" and "Structuring Machine Learning Projects" from Coursera in 2017, as well as "Introduction to Genomic Technologies" from Coursera in the same year.
