Ian James

Ian James possesses extensive experience in fire engineering and risk management, having served as the Head of Fire Engineering and Fire Risk Management Services at Hurley Palmer Flatt from October 2017 to April 2019, and as Director of Fire Engineering at Clarke Banks Group from April 2019 to June 2024. Previous roles include Firefighter in the Royal Air Force from January 1992 to August 2004, and Head of Estate Compliance, Governance, and Fire Safety at West London Mental Health NHS Trust from October 2004 to May 2015. Ian James has also held positions such as Associate Director (Fire Engineering) at Waterman Building Services and Managing Director of Fire Engineering and Fire Risk Management at PartB in July 2025. Academic qualifications include a First Class Honours Engineer’s Degree in Fire Safety Engineering from the University of Wales - Newport, a PGC in Risk and Safety Management from the University of Strathclyde, and a NEBOSH General Certificate in Health and Safety from Oxford College.
