Julien Vanier has had a long and varied career in software engineering. Julien began their career in 2004 as a Software Developer at Oracle. In 2005, they moved to Robert Bosch LLC as a Technical Expert - System Engineering, where they developed embedded engine control software for 3 generations of Bosch Motronic Engine Control Units. In 2012, they became the Owner and Developer of the Send To Car Smartphone App. In 2013, they became the CTO & Co-Founder of 1000tools.com. In 2014, they became the CTO & Co-Founder of MuniRent. In 2016, they moved to Particle as the Director of Software Engineer and Lead Engineer. In their role as Lead Engineer, they managed the team of engineers working on the interfaces of the Particle IoT platform, including the website, ecommerce stores, web and desktop integrated development environment (IDE), fleet management console, single-sign on login, command-line interface (CLI) and more. As Senior Software Engineer, they contributed in all areas of the Particle IoT platform software stack, from embedded firmware in C++, command line and web development tools in Javascript and backend cloud services in Javascript with MongoDB storage.

Julien Vanier completed a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from McGill University between 2001 and 2005. Julien then attended the University of Michigan, though no degree was obtained. Julien also holds a Professional Engineer certification from the Michigan State Board of Professional Engineers.
