James Miles worked as an educator in the New York City public schools for almost 20 years before moving to Seattle in 2016. Currently an Assistant Professor at Seattle University, James also serves as the Executive Director of Third Stone, which operates Bumbershoot, Seattle's music and arts festival. Previously, James held leadership roles as Chief Executive Officer of MENTOR Washington and Executive Director of Arts Corps. An acclaimed speaker, James's TEDxTalk centers on using the arts to address educational inequity. Additionally, James contributes as a Mayoral Appointee to the Seattle Arts Commission and on the advisory board of SXSW EDU.
