In 1995, Sim'oogit (Hereditary Chief) Ksi Baxhlkw / Dr. Patrick R. Stewart became the first Indigenous person in British Columbia to own and run an architecture firm. In 2010, he completed a LEED-certified building on the site of a Residential School.
