Joanna Phillips

System Engineer at Pattern Labs

Joanna Phillips has a diverse range of work experience. Joanna started their career as a Junior Engineer at Firstco in 2014, where they were responsible for creating graphics for a fire safety system at Heathrow airport and conducting testing. In 2015, Joanna worked as an Assistant Engineer at Renishaw Plc, where they designed a feasibility test rig and assisted with STEM activities for young women interested in engineering careers.

Joanna then expanded their skills by joining Bristol Engineering Design Society as a Co-Founder in 2014 and later in 2017 as the Social and Events Secretary. In 2017, they also worked as a Windsurfing Beach Assistant at ProCenter Prasonissi.

From 2018 to 2019, Joanna served as a Graduate Engineering Intern at Firstco before joining Shadow Robot in 2020. At Shadow Robot, they had multiple roles, starting as a QC and Applications Engineer and later transitioning to a Product Engineer from 2021 to 2023.

Joanna's most recent position is as a System Engineer at Pattern Labs, where they began their employment in 2023.

Joanna Phillips pursued their education in a chronological order, starting with their attendance at The Tiffin Girls' School. During their time there, Joanna focused on subjects such as Physics, Mathematics, English, and Art. After completing their schooling at The Tiffin Girls' School, Joanna proceeded to attend Putney High School, where they earned their GCSEs. Following their time at Putney High School, Joanna went on to study at the University of Bristol. From 2013 to 2018, they pursued a Master of Engineering (MEng) degree in Engineering Design with Study in Industry at the University of Bristol.
