After a short break, in 2012, Smith continued their academic endeavors at Northwestern University, where they engaged in coursework towards a Master of Science degree in Information Systems until 2013. This particular program was left incomplete as in the following year, Smith decided to pursue their interest in Business Analytics at the University of Notre Dame. J. Ryan (JR) joined the university in 2013 and successfully earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with a specialization in Business Analytics in 2014.
