Chris Powell has a diverse work experience in software engineering and technical testing. Chris is currently working as a Senior Software Engineer at Paxos since July 2022. Prior to this, they worked at Trayport for almost a decade, where they held various roles. From December 2019 to January 2022, they served as a Development Team Lead, responsible for line management, mentoring, systems engineering, and design. Chris played a crucial role in backend trading systems and demonstrated expertise in planning, risk management, recruitment, and hands-on coding.
Before their team lead role, Chris held the position of a Senior Developer at Trayport from December 2017 to December 2019. During this time, they contributed to order matching, aggregation, and risk platforms. Chris was also selected as one of the founding members of a new team and actively participated in planning and design, technical debt management, and incident management.
Chris began their journey at Trayport as a Software Developer in May 2014. Chris worked with multiple teams, utilizing the .NET stack and technologies such as C#, WPF, WCF, Web Sockets, Protobuf, and SQL Server 2008.
Before Trayport, from August 2012 to May 2014, Chris served as a Technical Test Engineer. Chris primarily focused on manual regression and exploratory testing for a frontend trading screen. Their responsibilities included developing and maintaining automated system tests, bug triage, and incident management.
Chris Powell attended Chatham Grammar School for Boys from 2001 to 2009. After completing high school, they pursued a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from King's College London from 2009 to 2012.
