John Caplan

John Caplan is the Co-CEO at Payoneer. John has also previously worked at Clyde, Caroo, and Alibaba Group. From September 2017 to December 2021, they served as the President of North America & Europe for Alibaba.com. In this position, they were responsible for leading the growth and globalization of Alibaba.com and helping to bring to life Alibaba Group’s vision of enabling the world’s small businesses to do business with one another.

Prior to their work at Alibaba Group, John Caplan was the Chief Executive Officer & Founder of OpenSky, which was acquired by Alibaba Group in 2017 to become North America B2B. At OpenSky, Caplan guided by the belief that simple technology will fundamentally disrupt global trade and provided software, services and data to enable small business entrepreneurs to achieve their dreams. Under Caplan’s leadership, OpenSky helped thousands of businesses trade billions of dollars of goods every year, grew to $50m in net revenue at a 100% CAGR, and built a culture and team that rivals any in the world.
