Derek Ward

Derek Ward is an experienced technology leader with a strong background in software development and integration. Currently serving as the Director of Development at Payworks Payroll Services Canada since January 2022, Derek previously held multiple key positions at Wawanesa Insurance, including Director of the Innovation Lab, where the focus was on evaluating InsurTech solutions, and Digital Lab Manager, leading efforts in blockchain and AI. As a co-founder of Double D Pools, Derek managed the development and operations of a sports pool website, utilizing Ruby on Rails and AWS. Furthermore, Derek has held various roles, such as Senior Consultant at Online Business Systems and Integration Architect at CanWest MediaWorks, contributing expertise in system integrations and enterprise capabilities. Derek holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Manitoba.
