John Larmer is an internationally recognized expert in project-based learning (PBL), currently serving as the John Mergendoller Senior Fellow at PBLWorks/Buck Institute for Education since July 1, 2024. Prior to this, John worked as a Senior Project Based Learning Advisor for Defined Learning from 2021 to June 2024. John co-developed the Gold Standard PBL model and contributed to various professional development programs and resources for educators. Throughout their career, John has authored several books and articles, participated in school reform initiatives, and taught high school social studies and English. John holds a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Stanford University and two Master's degrees in Educational Technology and Education Administration from San Francisco State University.
