Mark Bortman is an experienced professional in economic development and renewable energy. Currently serving as an Economic Strengthening Specialist for the Peace Corps since February 2024, Mark supports local governments and NGOs in implementing economic development strategies while providing training on business management and organizational development. As the CEO of Sustainable Solar Systems since December 2018, Mark designs and operates solar energy solutions for non-profit and faith-based organizations, aiming to lower their carbon footprint and utility costs. Previous roles include solar energy design and installation at Exact Solar, operations support at Solar Costa Rica, and leadership positions with the Lower Makefield Township Environmental Advisory Council. Mark also has a background in education, having taught in a high-needs area of Philadelphia, and holds a BA in Economics and International Relations from the University of Pennsylvania.
