Lee Becker currently serves as the Director of Machine Learning/NLP at Pearson since October 2022. Previously held positions include Principal AI/ML Engineer at ETS and Principal Research Scientist at Pearson. Additional experience includes roles as Lead Data Scientist at Hapara and Research Scientist at Avaya. Lee has a strong background in natural language processing, evidenced by involvement in projects such as SHARP and improving science learning through virtual tutors. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Computer Science and Cognitive Science, as well as a Master's degree from the University of Colorado Boulder, and a Bachelor's degree from the Colorado School of Mines. Prior to academic and industry roles, Lee taught English in Asia and worked at Intel and Hewlett-Packard in engineering capacities.
