Gavin Morrison

Gavin Morrison has a diverse work history. In 2020, they began working at PeerJ as an Editorial Community Manager, where they lead and contributes to the development and management of various community-based projects. From 2014 to 2020, they worked at the Public Library of Science (PLOS) in various roles, including Programmes R&D Manager, Preprints and Research Integrity Manager, Publications Manager, Senior Publications Assistant, and Publications Assistant. In 2013, they took a year away from work to travel Australasia. From 2010 to 2009, they worked at Gardline Environmental Ltd as a Field Environmental Scientist and Report Writer. Finally, in 2009, they completed an internship at Oceans Research studying great white sharks.

Gavin Morrison has an education history that includes a MSci in Marine Biology from the University of Southampton (2006-2010), A-Levels in Biology, Chemistry and Maths from Strode College (2004-2006), and GCSEs from Crispin School, Somerset (1999-2004). Gavin has also obtained a variety of certifications, including Divemaster from PADI (2013), Maritime Radio Operator Certificate of Competence (Short Range VHF) from the Royal Yachting Association (2012), Five-day PRIMER Course from Plymouth Marine Laboratory (2011), Marine Crane Certification Level 1 (Banksman/Slinger) from Asset Training (2011), Offshore Safety Training (STCW-95) from the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (2010), Sports Diver (also Oxgyen Administrator and Nitrox Diver) from BSAC (2001), HUET Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (5095) incl. Emergency Breathing System from OPITO (2012), and ENG1 Offshore Seafarer Medical Certificate from the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (2012 and 2010).
