Gavin Morrison has a diverse work history. In 2020, they began working at PeerJ as an Editorial Community Manager, where they lead and contributes to the development and management of various community-based projects. From 2014 to 2020, they worked at the Public Library of Science (PLOS) in various roles, including Programmes R&D Manager, Preprints and Research Integrity Manager, Publications Manager, Senior Publications Assistant, and Publications Assistant. In 2013, they took a year away from work to travel Australasia. From 2010 to 2009, they worked at Gardline Environmental Ltd as a Field Environmental Scientist and Report Writer. Finally, in 2009, they completed an internship at Oceans Research studying great white sharks.

Gavin Morrison has an education history that includes a MSci in Marine Biology from the University of Southampton (2006-2010), A-Levels in Biology, Chemistry and Maths from Strode College (2004-2006), and GCSEs from Crispin School, Somerset (1999-2004).
