John Hellwich

Assist. Supt. Elementary Schools at Peninsula School District

John Hellwich is currently the Assist. Supt. Elementary Schools at Peninsula School District. Prior to this, they served as the Director of Teaching and Learning at Sumner School District from July 2011 to July 2014. In this role, they were responsible for managing the Teaching and Principal Evaluation Program, new teacher support, Professional Learning Community (PLC) and PLC leader support, Response to Intervention (RTI) coordinator support, and transition to Common Core State Standards, including the overseeing the development of modules through the Literacy Design Collaborative (LDC).

Before their time at Sumner School District, John Hellwich served as the Professional Development Director, Elementary Principal at White River School District from July 2007 to June 2011. In this role, they were responsible for new staff support, PLC support, etc. and also served 2 years as principal of Wilkeson Elementary school.

John Hellwich has a Superintendent Certificate from Western Washington University, an Administrative Certificate from City University of Seattle, and a Master's degree in Education with an emphasis on Integrated Curriculum from the University of Washington Tacoma.

They work with Dan Gregory - Assist. Supt. Secondary Schools, Tonya Beattie - Exec. Manager of Chaos, and Aimee Gordon - Director of Communications. and Melissa Wisner - Exec. Director Dept. of Learning and Innovation reports to John Hellwich. John Hellwich reports to Krestin Bahr, Superintendent.
