Andrew Read

SVP for Research at Penn State University

Andrew Read currently serves as the Senior Vice President for Research at Penn State University, a position held since 2007 after a nine-month interim tenure. In this role, Andrew oversees diverse research initiatives across twelve academic colleges, seven interdisciplinary research institutes, and the Applied Research Lab, while also managing various offices related to sponsored programs, research protections, and technology transfer. Previously, Andrew held multiple academic positions at the University of Edinburgh from 1993 to 2007, including Professor of Biology and Entomology and Director of the Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences. Prior academic experience includes a role as a Junior Research Fellow at Christ Church, Oxford, and a BBSRC Research Fellow. Andrew's educational background features a PhD in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Oxford and a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Zoology from the University of Otago.
