Daniel Guarín

Research Assistant

Daniel Guarín, Ph.D. serves as the Head of Science at Carboneers, leading operations for sustainable biochar projects in collaboration with local farmers in the global South. Concurrently, Daniel participates in the Climatebase Fellowship since May 2023 and has been a Research Assistant at Penn State University since 2019, focusing on various aspects of soil fertility and environmental impacts. Daniel's experience includes roles such as Soils Consultant at GE CONSTRUCTORES S.A., Carbon Removal and Monitoring Specialist at Invert, and Visiting Research Scientist at CIAT, with a background that encompasses research on heavy metals in agroforestry systems and hydrological assessments in Colombia. Daniel holds a Ph.D. in Soil Science and International Agriculture and Development from Penn State University and a BS in Geological and Earth Sciences from Universidad de Los Andes, where additional minors were completed in Geography, Environmental Sciences and Biodiversity Studies, and History and Economics.
