Patrick Mather

Dean, Schreyer Honors College

Patrick Mather is the Dean of the Schreyer Honors College at Penn State University, a position held since August 2021. Prior to this role, Mather served as the Richard E. Garman Dean of Engineering at Bucknell University from July 2016 to August 2021, overseeing key aspects such as academic affairs and operations within a highly ranked College of Engineering. Mather’s academic career includes significant roles at Syracuse University as the Milton and Ann Stevenson Professor and Director of the Syracuse Biomaterials Institute, and as a Professor at Case Western Reserve University. Early career experience includes positions at the University of Connecticut, where Mather was an Assistant Professor, and at the Air Force Research Laboratory as a Materials Research Engineer. Mather holds a PhD in Materials from UC Santa Barbara and both a BS and MS in Engineering Science and Mechanics from Penn State University.
