The People Place Project is an initiative that is committed to create more awareness about our environment-both built and natural, communities and places from the lens of ‘people’ and ‘empathy’. We explore forms publications, that is aided by research and pedagogical exercises as our interventions. 

Started in 2014 under the title People Called Mumbai, the project set out to explore the collective narrative of a place through the stories of its people. Instituted in 2017, the initiative has published over 25 books so far. The narrative mapping project, the ‘People Called..’ series has now explored the cities of Ahmedabad, Shillong, Kolkata, Lucknow, Delhi, Kochi and so on. This framework has been also used to archive Kalaghoda Arts Festival and conduct numerous mapping exercises/workshops- like Its Playtime, Stories by Sea, Divisive Landscapes - and as way to intimately engage with our neighbourhoods. 

Since 2019 we have started publishing books for children - the City Mosaic books, Paani Party and our recent Batata, Pao and All Things Portuguese. 

We associate with government agencies and NGOs as consultants/curators/editors for their publications that concern urbanity or Architecture. One such prestigious project is MMRHCS Heritage Handbooks and maps- designed as tools to explore the heritage of Metropolitan Mumbai designed as tools to explore the heritage of Metropolitan Mumbai

In the year 2022-23, we are actively working on creating evocative literature for built environment consciousness, in step with the narrative of development that surrounds us. (further details will be updated)i
