People Powered Surrey is a resident-led initiative working to transform local democracy in Surrey.

We believe the democratic system is broken in two ways: structurally, residents have little meaningful power over the decisions that shape their lives; and culturally, many people — particularly those already marginalised — have lost faith that participation is worth their time.

We run imaginative deliberative workshops with communities across Surrey, co-designed with community leaders, to understand how residents actually want to engage in local governance.

The insights from these workshops will shape a Surrey Citizen Manifesto — a resident-authored set of demands for how the new Surrey councils should be organised — and inform a campaign for lasting democratic change.
