Richard Bates serves as the Vice President of Design for Global Beverage and Global Foods and Customer at PepsiCo since 2013. Prior to this, Richard held the position of Chief Creative Officer for North America at a joint venture between The Brand Union and O&M NY from 2008 to 2012 and was the Executive Creative Director at BIG at Ogilvy & Mather from 2005 to 2008. Richard's early career includes serving as Senior Vice President Creative Services at Atlantic Records from 1993 to 2004 and as Art Director at Whittle Communications from 1986 to 1990. Richard holds an MFA in Design from Cranbrook Academy of Art and a BFA in Design from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
