J. Spencer Cook

J. Spencer Cook has extensive work experience in various legal roles. J. Spencer worked as an Attorney at Spilman Thomas & Battle, PLLC from August 2016 to March 2019, where they handled general litigation matters, provided labor and employment law advice to employers, and defended employers in employment litigation. Prior to this, in 2015, they were a Summer Associate at the same firm, and in 2014, they worked as a Legal Extern.

Earlier in their career, Cook worked as a Legal/HR Assistant at Forward Air Corporation from June 2012 to August 2013. In this role, they were responsible for conducting employee interviews, generating mediation and position statements, and designing training materials.

J. Spencer also gained experience in non-legal positions, including working as a Staff Photographer for Wake Forest's student newspaper, the Old Gold & Black from August 2010 to May 2012. Additionally, they interned at Performance Fire Protection, LLC from May 2006 to August 2009, where they assisted in sales, marketing, and construction, as well as gained firsthand knowledge about the fire protection business.

Currently, Cook is serving as the General Counsel and Director of Administration at Performance Fire Protection, LLC, a role they have held since March 2019.

J. Spencer Cook attended the University of Tennessee College of Law from 2013 to 2016, where they received a Doctor of Law (J.D.) degree. Prior to that, they studied at Wake Forest University from 2008 to 2012, earning a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in History. In 2010, they also completed a Summer Management Program at Wake Forest University, focusing on Business, Management, Marketing, and Related Support Services.
