Laila Abed

Laila Abed is an urban studies and public health undergraduate student at Columbia University, expected to graduate in 2027. They serve as a member of the National Youth Advisory Council for PERIOD. and have previously held leadership roles, including serving on the Board of Directors for the organization. Laila has contributed to various community initiatives, such as training women in GBV and reproductive health and advocating for menstrual equity through significant fundraising and activism. Their experience includes internships focused on urban planning, community engagement, and research at various organizations, including Open Plans, Inc. and the Columbia Climate School.
