When Sid was eight years old, he should have known he would be a landscape architect, because his favorite activity riding in the back seat of the car was to tell his older brother whether a yard was “tacky” or not. After career forays into civil engineering and urban planning, he realized his true ambition at age thirty, and has been practicing landscape architecture for more than twenty-five years ever since. “I marvel at the new things I learn and realize every day,” he says. “Did I give someone a comfortable place to sit, will they be sheltered from the breeze, warmed by the sun, able to see their kids playing nearby? If I can write a story or a poem for a place, I know I will have a successful design.”
