Catherine Stone

Catherine Stone is a seasoned urban planner with extensive experience in spatial and urban planning, currently serving as a Senior Urban Planner at Perkins&Will since January 2024. Prior to this role, Catherine held significant positions, including Director of Spatial Planning for the Western Cape Government, where key projects included developing Spatial Development Frameworks for George and Eden District municipalities, and contributing to national guidelines and policy dialogues. Catherine’s previous experience also includes leadership roles within the City of Cape Town, directing a multidisciplinary team and overseeing various urban regeneration initiatives. A participant in prominent planning discussions at international forums, Catherine has contributed to educational programs and served on multiple governance and advisory bodies. Catherine holds a Master's Degree in City & Regional Planning from the University of Cape Town, along with various certifications in urban resilience, public management, and gender mainstreaming.
