Mathias (Ty) Ravsten

Mathias (Ty) Ravsten has a diverse range of work experience in various roles and industries.

Mathias (Ty) started their career as a Freelance Web Developer at PerkNow, Inc., where they developed and administered a web application on AWS.

Next, they worked as a Full Stack Engineer at Information & Communication Services (ICS), where they built Angular promises and components, resolved bugs, and wrote custom filters.

Mathias then joined GitLab Inc. as a Frontend Engineer, where they fixed bugs and built web pages using SCSS, VanillaJS, Ruby, and Haml.

Mathias (Ty) later joined BYU Marriott School of Management as an Information Systems Career Consultant, where they created dashboards using LinkedIn export data, Tableau, MySQL scripts, VBA scripts, and Python scripts. Mathias (Ty) also filled various roles, including Student Advisor, Recruiting Consultant, and Business Intelligence Developer.

After that, they worked at Skipio as an Engineering Manager, leading a team of QA Automation Engineers and implementing testing automation.

Mathias then joined Sentropy Technologies, which was later acquired by Discord, as a DevOps Engineer. In this role, they created blue-green/canary deployments using Kubernetes, Helm, and Nginx, established automated Kubernetes cluster upgrades, and managed the company's security position.

Mathias (Ty) then worked at Podium as a Site Reliability Engineer, where they were involved in network, container, and app security, CI/CD, infrastructure maintenance, and backend software engineering, among other tasks.

Afterwards, they joined Aumni as a Senior Cloud Security Engineer (DevSecOps). Here, they helped build out network and infrastructure/cloud security, implemented a Cybersecurity Risk Management program, and developed new policies and procedures.

Currently, Mathias is the Head of Cybersecurity & DevOps at Nectar, where they are responsible for leading the cybersecurity and DevOps functions.

Throughout their career, Mathias has gained experience with various tools and technologies, including AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, GitLab, Jenkins, and more.

Mathias (Ty) Ravsten obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems from Brigham Young University Marriott School of Business between 2014 and 2017. Prior to that, they pursued General Studies at Idaho State University from 2011 to 2012. Mathias (Ty) completed their education by earning a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a focus on IT Security & Compliance, as well as Private & Public Investing from the University of Utah in 2021.
