Denis Yarats

Denis Yarats is a seasoned technology professional with extensive experience in artificial intelligence and machine learning. Currently serving as Co-Founder and CTO at Perplexity since August 2022, Denis also operates as an angel investor for several companies starting January 2024, including Cognition Labs, Supermaven, AthinaAI, and Animation Inc. Prior to these roles, Denis worked as an AI Research Scientist at Facebook AI Research from June 2016 to July 2022 and as a Staff ML Engineer at Quora from September 2013 to June 2016, where a technical lead position was held within the machine learning team. Early career experience includes a role as Software Development Engineer II at Microsoft, focused on Bing, from November 2011 to September 2013. Denis holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Artificial Intelligence from New York University, completed in 2022.
