Tony W. is an experienced engineering leader with a strong background in artificial intelligence and machine learning. Currently serving as the VP of Engineering at Perplexity since February 2025, Tony previously worked at OpenAI from July 2023 to February 2025 on various engineering teams focused on advancing AGI. At Facebook, from September 2017 to March 2023, Tony held roles as Director of Engineering and Senior Engineering Manager, leading teams dedicated to ML labeling and experimentation platforms. Tony's professional journey also includes engineering management at Uber and software engineering positions at Twitter, BloomReach, Circle of Moms, Microsoft, and Google. Tony earned both a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Stanford University, with a specialization in Artificial Intelligence.
