Michael Vanderbyl

Michael Vanderbyl has gained international recognition as an advocate, practitioner, educator and critic of design. Establishing his own firm in 1973, Vanderbyl Design has evolved into a multi-disciplinary practice with expertise in graphics, packaging, showrooms, retail spaces, furniture, textiles and fashion apparel. Michael has been a member of the Alliance Graphique Internationale since 1987. In 2000, he received the AlGA Medal, the highest honor bestowed by the American Institute of Graphic Arts, and in 2012, was inducted into the Interior Design Hall of Fame. His work resides in the permanent collections of the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, SFMOMA, the Library of Congress, and Dic Neue Sammlung in Munich. Michael maintains his studio in San Francisco and a home in Napa Valley which has inspired a doc love of wine and numerous projects for wine industry clients, including graphics for the Napa Valley Vintners.
