Justin Carrus has a diverse and accomplished work experience. In 2021, they began working at Perygee as an Engineering, building the next generation of cybersecurity tools for enterprises. From 2018 to 2021, they worked at Tulip Interfaces as a Systems Engineer, building systems and technology to empower manufacturers with digital tools. From 2017 to 2018, they worked at the MIT Department of Mechanical Engineering as a Graduate Research Assistant. In 2017, they also worked at Tulip Interfaces as an Intern, providing mechanical design and manufacturing insight to push two hardware projects to short-run production. From 2015 to 2017, they worked at MIT D-Lab as a Research Scientist researching the burn characteristics of charcoal for use as a cooking fuel in developing countries. From 2013 to 2015, they worked at MIT Formula SAE as a Testing and Development Lead. In 2015, they also worked at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) as a Summer Intern - Vehicle Integration, working on system-level mechanical and electrical validation for the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT. In 2014, they worked at Ford Motor Company as a Summer Intern, designing an electronic system for bicycles. In 2013, they worked at the Laboratory for Aviation and the Environment (MIT) as a Research Intern, and at Clark County Public Schools - Kentucky as a Computer Technician, creating a JavaScript-based web application to manage student scheduling.
Justin Carrus completed their Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in Mechanical and Ocean Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2017, followed by a Master of Science (MS) in Mechanical Engineering from the same institute in 2018. Prior to this, they attended George Rogers Clark HS from 2009 to 2013.
