Derek Smith

Derek Smith, ASP, CHST, and STS-C, is an accomplished safety professional and adjunct professor. Currently serving as the Corporate Safety Director at Petillo Companies, they are dedicated to developing safety programs that enhance safety culture and reduce risk. With previous roles as Corporate Safety Director across multiple organizations, Derek developed successful safety programs that received safety awards and led to significant incident reduction. They also actively contribute to the safety community as the Vice President of the NJ American Society of Safety Professionals and teach courses in OSHA, Risk Management, and Construction Safety at the New Jersey Institute of Technology, their alma mater.
