Jitka Laurent

Jitka Laurent is a highly accomplished professional with a strong educational background in bioscience engineering, holding a PhD from KU Leuven in Food Chemistry and Biochemistry. Jitka's research at the Laboratory of Food Chemistry and Biochemistry focused on the biochemistry of Saccharomyces cerevisiae invertase activity and specificity during bread dough fermentation, resulting in six publications and conference presentations. Experience includes coaching master’s students, collaboration with research groups, and conducting diverse scientific experiments. Currently, Jitka serves as a Project Engineer in the Microbiology Lab at Pfizer, following prior roles as a job student at SEFI conference and Scientia Terrae, the latter involving the development of a control strategy for Pepino mosaic Virus in greenhouse tomatoes. Jitka Laurent graduated magna cum laude with both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in bioscience engineering from KU Leuven.
