Joel Schrock

Joel Schrock is currently the Senior Director & Team Lead of Portfolio & Decision Analysis at Pfizer. Prior to their current position, Joel was a Fund Manager at Big Red Ventures from September 2014 to May 2015. In this role, Joel was responsible for deal sourcing, leading due diligence teams, negotiating term sheets, making investments, and managing fund operations.

Before their time at Big Red Ventures, Joel was a Founding Member and Board Advisor of the Bench to Bedside Initiative from January 2011 to May 2015. The Bench to Bedside Initiative is a student-run organization that aims to bridge the gap between laboratory research and clinical medicine.

Joel has also been a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Weill Cornell Medical College from November 2010 to January 2013, where they taught undergraduate students about cancer biology. In addition, Joel was a Graduate Student Researcher at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center from June 2009 to May 2014, where they conducted research on the genetic basis of cancer.

Joel earned their BS in Biology from Cornell University in 2009 and their PhD in Genetics & Development from Weill Cornell Medical College in 2014.

Joel Schrock received their Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) from Cornell Johnson Graduate School of Management. Joel went on to earn their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Pharmacology from Joan & Sanford I. Weill Medical College of Cornell University. Finally, they completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Chemistry from Luther College.
