Robert Rickert has extensive experience in the field of cancer immunology and scientific research. Robert started their career as an Assistant Professor at UC San Diego in 1997, where they worked in the Division of Biological Sciences until 2004. Following this, Rickert joined the Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute as a Professor and Director, leading a prominent research program on B lymphocyte differentiation and the causes of B cell-derived malignancies and autoimmune diseases. In addition to their research role, they also served as a Program Director in the Cancer Center, Head of Academic Affairs, and Associate Dean of the Graduate School. In 2017, Rickert joined Pfizer as the Site Head and Chief Scientific Officer for Pfizer-Rinat, focusing on immuno-oncology. During their time at Pfizer, they established the Cancer Immunology Discovery unit, overseeing multiple programs in CAR-T, CD3 bispecifics, cytokines, immunosuppression, and T cell modulation. Then, in 2019, they assumed the position of SVP, Chief Scientific Officer for Cancer Immunology Discovery at Pfizer.
Robert Rickert received their Ph.D. in Immunology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where they studied from 1987 to 1992. Prior to that, they obtained their BS degree in Biochemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, attending from 1982 to 1987.
