Grant Johnston

Dr. Grant A. Johnston is Senior Director of Chemistry, Radiolabelled Sciences. Dr. Johnston joined Pharmaron when the company acquired Quotient Bioresearch in February 2016 and brings over 30 years of experience in isotope synthesis, GMP synthesis and development chemistry. In 1999 Dr. Johnston joined BioDynamics, a start-up CRO that was acquired by Quotient Bioresearch in 2008. Dr. Johnston held the position of Director of Chemistry, at Quotient Bioresearch and was responsible for the scientific and technical management of the isotope chemistry group. During this time he played an important role in the operational design and commissioning of the radiosynthesis laboratory in Cardiff and in the creation and expansion of the GMP radiosynthesis capability. Under his supervision the isotope synthesis teams supplied hundreds of radiolabelled compounds per year to customers.

Dr. Johnston received his Ph.D. at the University of Glasgow, followed by post-doctoral training at the University of Paris. He then worked for a multinational pharmaceutical company and gained wide experience of the drug development process. He is an author/co-author of 9 scientific publications and 2 patents.
