Hua Yang

Chief Scientific Officer at Pharmaron

Dr. Hua Yang has been Pharmaron's Chief Scientific Officer since he started in July 2007. Prior to this position, Dr. Yang held several managerial and senior scientific positions at AstraZeneca R&D Montreal. He was an Assistant Director at the department of medicinal chemistry for seven years, where he oversaw several medicinal chemistry programs and a drug-hunting project, in the research areas of analgesia and gastrointestinal disease. His medicinal chemistry, drug discovery and managerial knowledge, skills and experience encompass hit identification, hit-to-lead and lead optimization chemistry and the overall pre-clinical drug discovery process. He and his team successfully advanced candidate drugs to the development phase.

Dr. Yang completed his post-doc training in organic chemistry at Professor Hanessian’s group at the University of Montreal, Canada. He received his undergraduate education in chemistry from Jia Xin Teacher’s College, China, graduate education in organic chemistry at Beijing Normal University, China, and Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of Manchester, U.K. with Professor Sutherland. Dr. Yang is a co-author and co-inventor for 46 peer-reviewed scientific publications and patent applications.
