Principal Process Engineer at Pharmaron

Thoralf Hartwig has extensive work experience in the pharmaceutical industry and academia. Thoralf is currently working as a Principal Process Engineer at Pharmaron since January 2022. Prior to this, they held the position of Scientific Investigator and GSK Associate Fellow at GlaxoSmithKline from June 2007 to December 2021, where they focused on process development for pharmaceutical drug substances.

In terms of academia, Thoralf has served as an Honorary Visiting Professor at UCL since September 2018, originally granted by the Royal Academy of Engineering. Thoralf has made significant contributions to undergraduate learning and employability through teaching various subjects, mentoring students, and co-creating research projects. Additionally, they have been an Honorary Lecturer at Imperial College London from October 2015 to July 2018.

Throughout their career, Thoralf has been recognized for their scientific excellence, integrity, credibility, leadership, and working across boundaries skills.

Thoralf Hartwig has a strong educational background in Chemical Engineering. Thoralf obtained their Dipl.-Ing. (MSc) degree in Chemical Engineering from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in 2001. Thoralf further pursued their education at KIT and completed their Dr.-Ing. (PhD) degree in Chemical Engineering in 2007. In 1999, Thoralf also had an opportunity to study abroad as an ERASMUS student at The University of Manchester. Additionally, in 2017, they obtained an Associate Fellow certification from GSK.
